GLENVILLE, W.Va. – After a two hour rain delay, Notre Dame College scored all of their runs over the first four innings in game one to beat Glenville State College 9-5, but fell in game two by a score of 4-2 in nine innings.
In the first game, Notre Dame (9-14, 5-5 MEC) got on the board in the first inning. With runners on second and third, freshman
Kim Crookston tripled, which scored two. Junior
Erin Calhoun came up next and singled to left field.
Then the Falcons tacked on two runs in the top of the third inning, with a single by Calhoun, which scored sophomore
Ariel Linberger from third base and Crookston from second. That hit made the score 5-1 in favor of NDC.
Glenville State (11-15, 2-8 MEC) got two runs in the third inning on a sacrifice fly and an error.
NDC opened the game up in the fourth inning when Linberger hit her first home run as a Falcon, a grand slam to left field, putting Notre Dame up 9-3.
GSC scored a run in the fifth and one more in the seventh.
Crookston went 4-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs for the Falcons. Three players had two hits. Freshman
McKenzie Zigmont (4-2) earned the win by pitching six innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out six.
Paranda Uber went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI for the Pioneers.
In game two, NDC scored again in the top of the first inning on an RBI ground out by Crookston.
With the game tied at one, the Pioneers took their first lead of the day on a solo home run by Hannah Wright in the fourth inning.
NDC would tie the game at two with a run in the fifth but Glenville State won the contest in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs, Hayley Olson connected on a pitch and sent it over the fence in left field, winning with a walk-off home run.

Shelby Stephens combined for five hits in the top three spots of the batting order. Four Falcons hit a double. Sophomore
Taylor Olson (5-7) took the tough loss as she went 8 2/3 innings in the pitching circle after allowing four runs and just three earned. NDC is 1-2 in extra-inning games this season.
Wright had three hits for the Pioneers and Tori Ward (4-4) picked up the win as she gave up two runs over nine innings.
The Falcons travel to West Virginia Wesleyan College, today, to play the Bobcats. The double-header is set to begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
