FAIRMONT, W.Va. – For the 12th time this season, the number of Notre Dame College women's basketball players to score in a single game hit the double digits. Saturday, at Fairmont State, 11 players scored in a 69-54 victory as NDC improved to 16-7 (12-4 MEC).
Runs were made by both teams in the first quarter as the Falcons got off to an 11-6 lead before FSU climbed back to take a 16-13 lead to close out the quarter. When the second quarter came, Notre Dame took over.
For the second-straight game, NDC won the second quarter by 13 points. Saturday it came in a 17-4 domination that gave the Falcons a 30-20 lead going into halftime. The team finished the game with a well-rounded performance to win both of the final two quarters and come away with their third road win in a row.
Both teams held on to the ball as they combined for just 23 turnovers caused by just nine steals, but Notre Dame made the most of its possessions. Fairmont State had 68 possessions compared to NDC's 67, but the Falcons took nine more shots throughout the contest.
FSU's 54 points is the third fewest against Notre Dame this season as the Falcons held their hosts to just 38.5 percent shooting.
NDC is 5-1 when their opponents have made less than 40 percent of their attempts this season. And in those 12 games when 10 or more players score, the Falcons are 9-3.

Lauren Macer. "Everyone that got in contributed. The bench was encouraging today, which excited the players on the court. We keep working to defend together and having the ability to play numerous people helps our team on the court and the boosts morale overall."
Abi Oriti exploded off the bench in the first half as she scored seven of her 10 points in a two-minute span during the second quarter. Clutch free throws for the starting guards pushed
Marisa Finazzo and
Seina Adachi into the double-digit range as they scored 13 and 10, respectively.
Kim Cook and
Maggie King worked the boards to secure a combined 14 rebounds while King and Finazzo led the team with three assists each.
Notre Dame returns home on Thursday, February 8, for a 5:30 p.m. tip against Glenville State.
