DETROIT, Mich. - The Notre Dame College women's basketball team lost at Wayne State 91-50 on Wednesday evening, but the day was highlighted by
Seina Adachi breaking a career milestone. The junior guard scored her 1,000th career point during the contest to become the 14th player in NDC history to reach the mark.
Adachi averaged 10.2 points during her freshman campaign, but hit her stride as a sophomore as she became just the fifth Falcons to score over 500 points in a single season. Now, just 11 games into her junior season, the Attica, Ohio native has reach 1,003 points.
"Seina always works hard and makes the tough shots," said head coach
Lauren Macer. "Her ability to score the ball has been such a big factor in our team success over the past few years. I was happy to see her score her 1,000th point tonight because it shows how hard she has worked and continues to work. It's special to see an individual reach these milestones when her main focus is the team."
Adachi led the team at Wayne State with 15 points as she made six field goals that included three shots from distance.
Trio of forwards,
Abi Oriti,
Jessie Stout and
Tamia Ridley led the Falcons with five rebounds each while
Katie Karalic tallied three assists.
Notre Dame will return from the winter break with a game at Ursuline on December 30.
