WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Notre Dame College men's soccer team lost 2-1 at West Chester in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Falcons will end their season with an overall record of 14-4-1 after the postseason loss.
The Golden Rams scored early as Doug Goitia scored his seventh goal of the season after just 83 seconds ticked off the clock.
Notre Dame trailed 1-0 for 20 minutes before
David Perez Torralba tied things up 1-1 in the 22nd minute. Torrable was able to score six goals in just 12 games this season.
Stephen Thompson from West Chester broke the tie in the 53rd minute scoring after the ball was tipped into the box. Neither team was able to put the ball in the net the rest of the way, giving Thompson the game-winning goal.
The Falcons played aggressively in the second half as they were able to take four corner kicks in the final 45 minutes. In the 58th minute,
Arthur Favero was able to earn a penalty kick attempt, but his shot was saved by WCU's goalkeeper.
Notre Dame's 14 wins this year was the most since 2013.
