CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Notre Dame College women's soccer team travel to Charleston on Sunday and came away with a 1-0 win to clinch the Mountain East North Division.
NDC had some success on the offensive end in the early parts of the game as
Katarina Doncevic was able to get a shot off just 13 seconds into play. In minutes 18-22, the Falcons took three shots on goal as
Alyssa Soltis,
Norah Barnes and
Katja Josipovic all challenged the UC goalkeeper. But those were the last shots Notre Dame would take for over 60 minutes of play.
In the 87th minute,
Lauren Chaney broke the drought and took a shot that would end up hitting the back of the net and win the game. Chaney scored her first goal of the season with an assist from
Stine Austad.
Kyra McDowell saved three shots as the teams goalkeeper to secure her seventh shutout this season. That beats her mark of six shutouts from a year ago and ranks as the fifth-most in NDC single-season history.
Notre Dame will finish its season with a home game against Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday, October 24, and a road game at Urbana on Sunday, October 28.
