Notre Dame loses to Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – Shepherd University scored early and often on Notre Dame College, en route to an 18-3 victory, on Saturday morning.

The Falcons (2-6 overall, 0-2 MEC) have lost three game in a row, all by ten goals, or more. The win for the Rams (4-9, 2-0 MEC) marks their third consecutive victory following a 1-9 start to the season.

Notre Dame struggled to contain Shepherd early on as the Rams put the first seven goals on the scoreboard. NDC's Darbie Barkman, ended the run by scoring the first goal of the game for Notre Dame with 11:38 to go in the first half.

SU would score the next five goals before the end of the half and led 12-1 at halftime. Shepherd took 18 more shots than Notre Dame (26-8) in the first half.

Shepherd would score the first three goals of the second half, before Barkman scored the second goal of the game for Notre Dame with 16:11 remaining in the game.
The Falcons were outscored, 6-2 in the second half. Barkman had both goals.

Notre Dame took nine shots on goal, to Shepherd's 30 shots on goal. The Falcons only had six draw controls. Barkman put all three goals in the back of the net for the Falcons.

Shepherd scooped up 26 groundballs and won 17 draw controls. Brooke Hunley had five goals and four assists. Courtney Matthews added three goals.

Notre Dame will travel to Steubenville, Ohio and take on Franciscan University on April 18. The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
