WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – With a 1-0 victory at West Liberty (4-10-2) the Notre Dame College women's soccer team (11-3-2) will ride a three-game win streak into the MEC Tournament.
The Falcons utilized a quick score from
Brooke LeForce at the 15-minute mark to gain their fourth road victory of the season.
LeForce, a junior forward, scored her third goal of the year after splitting Hilltopper defenders from a goal. The goal came unassisted for the Franklin, Ohio native.
While the NDC offense attempted seven shots, including four on goal, the defense held WLU to just four shots. Three of those shots for West Liberty were on goal, but all were stopped by goalkeeper
Kyra McDowell.
McDowell and the Falcons have now won three games in a row without giving up a goal.
"They're a tough opponent who made the game very difficult for us," head coach
Mike Shiels said. "We didn't create a lot today, but we were able to convert one and get the win."
As the No. 2 seed in the MEC Tournament, Notre Dame will host Concord on Thursday, November 2.
