SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Notre Dame College women's soccer team (7-1-1) tied Shepherd (3-2-4) on Saturday afternoon with a final score of 2-2. All four goals were scored in the second half after each team failed to put up points in the first 45 minutes.
The Falcons had multiple opportunities in the first half, taking four corner kicks and landing four shots on goal, but the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the Rams were the first on the board with a goal in the 50th minute. NDC responded with two goals minutes later as
Lauren Chaney scored in the 57th minute and
Na'pier Ramsey scored in the 59th. Chaney's first goal of the season was assisted by
Katarina Doncevic.
Shepherd tied the game up with 23 minutes left to go in the game, but neither team could break the tie. In overtime, the Rams got two shots off including one on goal while the Falcons were unable to attempt any shots.
Abigail Quesnelle, playing her first career collegiate game, earned a crucial save in the second overtime to keep the game tied. Overall, the freshman from Fenton, Mich. had five saves.
The Falcons remain undefeated in MEC play with an overall record of 7-0-1.
Notre Dame will play at West Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday, October 3 at 4 p.m.
