Falcons finish fifth

Notre Dame Men's and Women's Track & Field finish fifth in Berea

BEREA, Ohio -- Both the Men's and Women's Track & Field teams finished fifth in a field of six teams at the Greater Cleveland Championships on Friday night, and the Falcons finished first in five separate events. (Results)

On the men's side, the Falcons finished in the top three in six events. Freshman #Adam Saintz# won the 55-Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.12 seconds. #Brandon Brodwolf#, a sophomore from Lodi, Ohio, had a busy evening, placing first in the High Jump, with a leap of 2.03-meters (6-08.00), and  second in the Long Jump, with a 6.14-meter (20-01.75) jump.  #Tom Gay# ran a 53.30 in the 400-Meter Run to finish second, while #Tim Robinson#'s 15.04-meter (49-04.25) toss in the Shot Put placed him third.  The team of Saintz, #Paul Spencer#, #Terance Owens# and #Greg Koenig# finished third in the 4x200-Meter Relay, with a time of 1:38.02.

For the women, NDC finished first in three events, and placed in the top three in five events. #Noelle Johnson# won the Triple Jump event with an 11.06-meter (36-03.50) performance, #Samantha Murphy# finished first in the Shot Put, with a 12.51-meter (41-00.50) toss, and the team of #Ava Woods#, #Jessica Thomas#, #Tiffany Tucker#, and #Shawnta Davis# won the Women's 4x200-Meter Relay, with a time of 1:46.09. Thomas also ran a 7.56 in the 55-Meter Dash, and Woods ran a 1:02.05 in the 400 to finish third.

The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday at the Kent State Tune-up in Kent, Ohio. They are off next weekend, and will compete in the NAIA National Championships in Johnson City, Tenn., March 3-6.
