Jason Erdelyi joined the Notre Dame College coaching staff prior to the 2010 season and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in February 2016. He is responsible for coaching the defense, working with all defensive positions. When the team is on offense, he serves as the third-base coach.Â
Since being named a full-time assistant in 2011, the Falcons have finished with a team fielding percentage above .950 in all but one season (.947 in 2013). His defensive coaching was highlighted in the 2015 season when NDC led the Mountain East and ranked fourth in the nation with a .973 fielding percentage.Â
In the six full seasons as Associate Head Coach, the team has finished in the top four in the MEC in fielding percentage every season and 22 players have been named All-MEC.
Erdelyi began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Ohio Northern University, where he was a pitcher on the team from 2001-04. After coaching with the Polar Bears in 2005, he went on to coach at many other programs including Western Texas College (2006), Player's I Baseball Academy's 18U summer team (2009-10) and the Ohio Warriors Travel Team (Head Coach, 2011-12).
In addition to his coaching duties at Notre Dame, Erdelyi is also a tutor at KidsLink Neurobehavioral Center in Twinsburg, Ohio.Â
Erdelyi earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Eduation from ONU in 2005 and a Master’s Degree in Education with Endorsement in Technology in 2012 from NDC.Â
He and his wife Melanie have two children, Zain and Ava. His father, Mark Erdelyi pitched at Kent State University.Â
