SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – On April 18, Notre Dame College celebrated the Honors Convocation in the Regina Auditorium, recognizing the top students in their respective fields of study. Student-athletes earned awards throughout the night and the President's Award was given to
Brooke Dobrzanski (women's swimming) and
Nate Moore (football).
"Every year at this event, and this year was no different, I am truly amazed at the high number of student-athletes we have receiving a variety of awards," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Swain. "I am so proud of the academic accomplishments of all of our student-athletes. They are absolutely achieving great things in the classroom and the laboratory. Falcon student-athletes are expected to excel both academically and athletically. We can absolutely say that is being accomplished."
The event recognizes the top Notre Dame students in the Division of Arts and Humanities, Division of Business Administration, Division of Nursing, Division of Professional Education, Division of Science and Mathematics along with special awards and honor societies.
The President's Award is given to the top female and male student-athlete who excels in the classroom and in competition each year.
During her time at NDC, Dobrzanski secured 13 All-MEC awards at the annual GMAC/MEC Championships, including picking up five this season. A sports management major with a 3.95 GPA, she was named Academic All-MEC in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and selected to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) in 2023. The native of Monroe, Mich. is a two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award winner in 2021 and 2022 and the NDC women's swimming and diving team was named Scholar All-America Team by the CSCAA each year Dobrzanski has been on the team.
This season, she earned an MEC Championship and First Team All-MEC as a member of the 200 Free Relay, tallying a time of 25.25 as the first-leg of that relay. Dobrzanski was named the conference's Swimmer of the Week twice this season, on Nov. 7 and Jan. 23.
Throughout NCAA Division II in 2022, Moore was sixth in the country in both total tackles (122) and solo tackles (70). In the MEC, he ranked second in total tackles, second in solo tackles and tied second with 15 tackles for loss. This season, he became the leader in NDC program history in career solo (207), career assisted (172) and career total tackles (379). He now sits in second place in conference history for career tackles.
The Rootstown, Ohio native graduated with a business management degree and a 3.97 GPA before enrolling in the MBA program and holding a 4.0 GPA. He took a spot on the Academic All-MEC Team (3.7-4.0 GPA) five times, was named Second Team All-MEC in 2019 and took First Team honors in 2020, 2021 and 2022. In 2022, he was named MEC Defensive Player of the Year, Academic All-Region, First Team Academic All-American, First Team All-Region and First Team All-American. In his career, Moore earned two Academic All-America awards and three Academic All-Region honors.
