Notre Dame to host AMC title game

Tickets for Falcons-Cavaliers game go on sale Tuesday

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame will host Walsh in the American Mideast Conference Men's Basketball Championship Game on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The game between the Falcons (19-10, 11-5 AMC) and Cavaliers (27-2, 15-1) will be held at Murphy Gymnasium on Saturday; tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. Notre Dame will host the game between the league's two division winners (NDC North, WU South) because the regular-season game between the two teams was played on Walsh's home floor - AMC postseason rules stipulate the site of the game based on that fact.

Tickets for the AMC Championship Game will go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at NDC's Keller Center. Admission prices set by the conference are $6 for adults and $3 for students and children under 12 (student ID required at the time of purchase).

The winner of Saturday's tilt in South Euclid will earn an automatic bid to the 2010 NAIA National Championship Tournament (Point Lookout, Mo., March 10-16). The loser of the game will have a second crack at an automatic berth in the national tournament via hosting the finale of an AMC qualifying tournament which features the league's second-through-sixth seeds.

Notre Dame heads into the championship game having won an AMC division title for a second time. The Falcons are averaging 75.2 points per game (sixth-AMC) on offense while yielding 66.3 points per contest (second) defensively. Walsh comes to College Road as the top-ranked team in the nation (NAIA-II Coaches' Poll), averaging 92.2 points per game (first) on offense and giving up 60.7 points per game (first) on defense. The Cavaliers defeated the Falcons last Saturday (Feb. 20) by a final score of 86-64. Walsh has won eight straight since losing to Cedarville, 73-72, on Jan. 26.
