NDC releases '09 slate

Notre Dame Falcon Football kicks off in September

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame announced their 2009 Football schedule today. NDC Football will kick off on Sept. 6, and in their first season the Falcons are slated to play eight games. (Full Schedule)

Notre Dame's fall-2009 schedule will be played against a mix of club, junior varsity and prep teams. The Falcons will take on the JV squad of Hiram in their season opener. That game will be played in Hiram, Ohio, on Sunday, Sept. 6. NDC will also play the junior varsity teams of Waynesburg-Pa. (Sept. 14), Case Western Reserve (Sept. 27), Wooster (Oct. 11), and Ashland (Oct. 19). The Falcons will also square off against Union Christian Prep (Oct. 1), North Carolina Tech (Oct. 25) before closing out their season Nov. 14 against the club team of Xavier University.

“We're excited about our schedule in year number one,” said Falcons' Head Coach #Adam Howard#. “We have some good games that will be important measuring sticks for us as we develop as a program.”

That development includes an intra-squad game, the program's first “Blue & White Game”, three weeks into the season, on Sept. 20. The following week, on Sept. 27, Notre Dame will play their first home game when they host the Spartans of Case Western Reserve. The backyard battle with CWRU will mark the first of three home games for the upstart program in 2009. NDC will also host Union Christian on Oct. 1 and North Carolina Tech on Oct. 25. The Falcons will play their home games at Brush High School's (Lyndhurst, Ohio) Korb Field.

In their first season, Notre Dame will play four games on Sundays, two on Mondays, one on a Thursday, and their season finale at Xavier will be played on a Saturday.

The development of a Football program at Notre Dame College was announced on Nov. 25. To date, NDC has garnered 94 commitments in building their first-year roster. With their development of a team, Notre Dame becomes the only scholarship football team in the metropolitan Cleveland area.
