Samantha Shoemaker had a terrific week for the Falcons, as she blanked the opposition in a pair of home games and has been named the Mountain East Conference's Defensive Player of the Week. (

Shoemaker, a senior goalkeeper from Cincinnati, Ohio, played a major role in keeping the Falcons unbeaten this season, as she turned away 14 shots in two games, allowing no goals in a week where the Falcons went 1-0-1 in MEC action.
Shoemaker had six saves in Notre Dame's 1-0 victory over the Urbana Blue Knights on Sunday evening, and she kept West Liberty off the scoreboard in a 0-0 draw on Thursday afternoon, while coming away with eight saves in the process. She has 24 on the season.
The Falcons return to action this Thursday, Sept. 22, when they hit the road for another MEC tilt against Wheeling Jesuit. The contest is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in Wheeling, W.Va.
