Cobey Fehr (141 lbs) is the D2Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week, as announced Wednesday evening.
Fehr went 4-0 at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Dual Meets last weekend, helping lead the Falcons to a First Place finish over defending NCAA Champion St. Cloud State, 21-15.
The junior began the weekend with a 5-2 decision over Minnesota State-Mankato's Alphonso Vruno, and the Falcons won the meet by a score of 27-9. Later that same day, Fehr picked up a clutch 18-10 Major Decision over Mercyhurst's Braden Flinn as the Falcons defeated the Lakers, 24-15.
In the Semifinals meet against No. 1 Maryville, Fehr pulled the 5-4 upset over top-seeded Nate Rodriguez, handing him his first loss of the season.Â
Fehr saved his best performance for last, capping his 4-0 weekend with a 3:57 pinfall victory over St. Cloud State's Matt Nelson. Fehr's pinfall win over Nelson scored six team points for the Falcons, and proved to be the difference as NDC defeated St. Cloud State, 21-15.
With his perfect 4-0 weekend at the NWCA Duals, Fehr improved to 8-1 on the season, with three victories via pinfall.
