Derek Meyerson named Women's Water Polo head coach

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame College has named Derek Meyerson the new head coach of the Women's Water Polo team. Meyerson's term is effective immediately.

As a collegiate athlete, Meyerson played men's water polo at Slippery Rock University for four years. While at SRU, Meyerson was a four-year starter and a team captain. Meyerson was also the leading scorer for the men's water polo team in each of his four years there, and was also an assistant coach for the women's water polo team at the same time.

After his time at Slippery Rock, Meyerson went on to become an assistant coach for both the men's and women's water polo teams at Mercyhurst University.

A native of Orange County, California, Meyerson first started playing water polo at the age of nine, and continued to play through high school. During high school, Meyerson moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and continued his water polo career at North Penn High School, where he was an All-American his senior year.
