Shiels named Coach of the Year, Manoa named Offensive POY and Freshman of the Year

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va -- Notre Dame College head women's soccer coach Mike Shiels has been named the 2014 Mountain East Conference Coach of the Year, while Alexis Manoa has been named the 2014 Offensive Player of the Year as well as the Freshman of the Year.

Shiels is the MEC Coach of the Year for the second time in as many seasons after leading the Falcons to a 12-2-2 record this season. The Falcons also finished the regular season with a 11-1-2 record against MEC opponents, thus winning the MEC regular season title for the second time in two years.

Manoa, a sophomore from Strongsville, Ohio, is in her freshman season in the MEC after transferring from Bowling Green State University. Manoa led the MEC with 26 points via eight goals and 10 assists, and registered a goal or an assist in 10 of NDC's 16 games this season. Manoa was also named First Team All-MEC for her efforts.
