Shorthanded victory

Fast start provides NDC with a 10-7 win

Salem, W.Va. -- The Notre Dame Falcons finished Sunday's match against Washington and Jefferson with a field player in goal, as five players fouled out, but NDC still found a way to come out on top, 10-7.

The victory for NDC (10-7) gives them two out of three this weekend, and avenged a 14-13 loss to Washington and Jefferson last weekend.

It was a fast and furious start that put the Falcons in a position to succeed.  Notre Dame scored five out of the first six goals in the opening quarter, getting three of those goals from Andrew Sinnot-Neal

The early deficit proved to be too much for Washington and Jefferson to overcome.  NDC senior Ryan Rehmer, normally a field player, had to fill in for the Falcons in goal, after five Falcons fouled out.

"We had a small squad with a few guys out sick, everyone played, and everyone played great defense,” said Head Coach Matt Kittle. “This was truly a team win and I am pleased with the way we played this weekend."

NDC is in action again on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Southern Division Championships.  The time and opponent have not been announced.
