SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Men's Bowling announced today that DJ Pohorence has signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to continue his bowling and golf careers with the Falcons.
Pohorence will be heading to College Road from Vermilion, Ohio, where he bowled and played golf for Vermilion High School.
On the alleys, Pohorence went to the state championships four years in a row (2006-09). He maintained a steadily rising average between 195 and 213, reaching the 213-mark as a senior. The Vermilion squad finished as runner-up in the state championships in 2007; they won the North Shore Conference each of the last two years.
On the links, the son of Kellie Foster earned three varsity letters for the Sailors. He was Vermilion's team captain in his senior season (2008), when he also won the team's Scholarship Award for having the highest grade-point average on the squad.
“I feel Notre Dame has all the qualities I'm looking for in order to further my career plans,” said the two-sport standout, on why he selected NDC.
Pohorence plans on beginning classes at Notre Dame in the fall and on majoring in sports management.
The development of a Men's Bowling program at Notre Dame College was announced on Nov. 25. For information about the program, log onto www.NotreDameFalcons.com.
