Falcons take in tackler Briggs

Cleveland linebacker inks with NDC

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Football announced today that Gary Briggs II has signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to continue his career with the Falcons.

Briggs is a Cleveland native and a four-year letter winner at John F. Kennedy High School, where he was a standout linebacker. In his senior season (2008), the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Briggs was named a Senate Athletic League All-Star, leading JFK with 108 tackles and 12 sacks. Playing for Eagles Head Coach Scott Wodtly, Briggs recorded 402 career tackles and 32 sacks.

In his stellar senior campaign, the sure-tackling Briggs also had four interceptions and four fumble recoveries, one for a touchdown. The Eagles' team captain earned a regional honorable mention in addition to his Senate League recognition.

The son of Gary and Kathy Briggs also earned two letters in weight lifting and one in wrestling while at JFK. He plans on beginning classes at Notre Dame in the fall.
