Brook Park, Ohio, native becomes bowler for start-up program

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Women's Bowling announced today that Kirstie Hegedus has signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to continue her career with the Falcons.

Hegedus will be heading to College Road from Brook Park, Ohio, where she was a standout bowler for Midpark High School. As a senior for the Meteors, Hegedus posted a 189 average. She placed third among high school seniors at the state tournament and was the medalist at the 2008-09 Pepsi District Qualifier.

As a junior on Head Coach Sharon Zeszotek's Midpark squad, Hegedus sported an average of 188, which was the top average for girls in the Greater Cleveland Interscholastic Bowling League. Her high series as a junior was a 653; she upped that pin count to 705 in her senior season.

The daughter of Bob and Tina Hegedus plans on beginning classes at Notre Dame in the fall and studying graphic design.

Hegedus' signing marks the first for the NDC Women's program. “I wanted to be part of a new program,” said Hegedus. “I also like the campus environment at the College - the staff and students have great support for their athletic teams.”

The development of a Women's Bowling program at Notre Dame College was announced on Nov. 25. For information about the program, log onto www.NotreDameFalcons.com.
