SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Football announced today that St. Ignatius (Cleveland) defensive tackle Ryan Carr has signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to continue his football career with the Falcons.
Carr was a two-year starter and a three-year letterman for the Wildcats and Head Coach Chuck Kyle. The 6-foot-1, 265-pound Parma, Ohio, native was a standout member of St. Ignatius' stalwart defense that helped propel the team to Ohio's Division I state championship title in 2008. Carr was named all-district at defensive tackle.
The 2008 St. Ignatius defense allowed just 8.5 points per game en route to their state crown. The Wildcats pitched four shutouts and held opponents under 10 points in nine of their 15 games. In the playoffs, St. Ignatius allowed just 14 points over their four-game march to the title game, a 28-20 win over Cincinnati Elder.
“Ryan was a huge part of the defense that led St. Ignatius to a state championship this year,” said NDC Head Coach #Adam Howard#. “He plays with a high level of intensity, great leverage and pursues the ball relentlessly. We are expecting Ryan to make a big impact on our defense next year.”
The son of Patrick and Michele Carr plans on beginning classes at Notre Dame in the fall.
The development of a Football program at Notre Dame College was announced on Nov. 25. With their development of a team, Notre Dame becomes the only scholarship football team in the metropolitan Cleveland area. For information about the program and Head Coach
