Standout defensive lineman from Lorain County added to mix

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Football announced today that Richard Shawver has signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to continue his football career with the Falcons.

Shawver comes to College Road from Lorain, Ohio, where he was a standout defensive lineman for Southview High School and Head Coach Todd Auvil. Shawver was a one-year letterman for the Saints; he also lettered once in basketball.

“We are excited to add an outstanding athlete like Richard to our defensive roster,” said Notre Dame Head Coach Adam Howard.

Shawver was named First Team All-Lake Erie League and First Team All-Lorain County following his senior season.

The son of Richard Shawver and Mary Maynard plans on beginning classes at Notre Dame in the fall and majoring in accounting.

The development of a Football program at Notre Dame College was announced on Nov. 25.
