UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The NDC women's team missed out on a chance to capture the title at the Carroll Swim Classic by just two points on Saturday, as both Falcon teams placed second at the event. (

Notre Dame's men placed second in a three-team field, and the women's squad placed second of four. The event, hosted by John Carroll University, closed out the first half of the Falcons' season - NDC will now be on a break, including a winter training trip to Florida, until the second half of their season picks up on Jan. 16.
#Greg Pristov# led the men's team with a performance that included four first-place finishes and three seconds. The NDC men tallied 755 points in 20 events over the two-day meet. The host Blue Streaks won the men's competition with a score of 1,177 points. Malone finished third with 220 points.
Pristov's seven-medal weekend included individual wins in the 100 Yard Butterfly, 200 Fly and 500 Free. Other contributors to Notre Dame's success include #Cameron McRae# (three golds, three silvers) and #Jacob Lutz# (seven silvers).
On the women's side, Notre Dame scored 1,076 points, just two shy of JCU's 1,078. Malone finished third, with 243 points; Ursuline scored 87 points and placed fourth.
#Lauryssa Rieger# and #Emily Whittington# paced the Falcons - they each garnered four golds and two silvers on the day. Both earned three individual gold medals over the two days of competition at John Carroll.
“[Not winning] was frustrating,” said Head Coach #Mike Gallagher#. “The girls came so close; we should've won the meet. But all in all there were a lot of positives for us this weekend, some things that set us up for a really good scond half.”
