John Carroll swims past NDC

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame was swept by John Carroll in Friday's home dual against their east side neighbors.  (Results

The JCU men's team topped Notre Dame, 113-82. The Blue Streaks women's team won by a similar score, 116-89. Notre Dame recorded 12 national qualifying times and four new program records.

Men's
John Carroll took gold in eight of the 11 men's events. #Greg Pristov# (200 Yard Freestyle) and #Jordan Cvijanovic# (100 Breast) each won events; they each took part in the 200 Yard Free Relay, which also earned gold for the Falcons.

That relay (P. McRae-Cvijanovic-Pristov-Reidy) earned a national-qualifying time, touching in at 1:32.73. Pristov's gold in the 200 Free was earned with a time that qualified for nationals and set a new NDC record (1:47.60). The freshman from Madison, Ohio, also swam a qualifying time in the 500 Free.

Women's
The Falcon women garnered four gold medals. Their top performer was #Kelly O'Connor#, who qualified in two events (50 Free, 100 Breast) and set a new Notre Dame record (25.80 seconds in the 50 Free).

#Emily Whittington# was also a dual qualifier, hitting needed times in the 200 and 500 Free.

Both O'Connor and Whittington swam a leg of the Falcons' 200 Yard Medley Relay, which lost out to John Carroll by a fraction of a second, but which set a new program mark and qualified for nationals with a time of 1:56.06.
