Falcons win four medals in local quad

CLEVELAND -- Notre Dame garnered four medals in the four-team City College Meet, hosted by Cleveland State University on Tuesday. (Results)

Both the men's and women's teams for NDC were swept, with each going 0-3 against the host Cleveland State Vikings, Gannon (Pa.), and John Carroll.

Freshman #Greg Pristov# highlighted the day for the Falcons - he placed first in the Men's 200-Yard Freestyle, touching in at 1:47.42, more than a full second ahead of the second-place finisher.  Pristov also posted a fourth-place national qualifying and school record time (53.51) in the 100 Fly.

NDC's other three medals (all bronzes) were earned by three different Falcon women swimmers (#Kelly O'Connor#-50 Free, #Lauryssa Rieger#-400 IM, #Emily Whittington#-100 Back).

Men's Competition
In head-to-head results, Notre Dame lost to CSU, 156-67, to Gannon, 146-75, and to JCU, 150-77.  In addition to Prostov's gold in the 200 Free and national qualifying time in the 100 Fly, the Falcon squad also got strong performances by #Justin Pulling#, #Oleg Obolonskyy# and #Chris Tuttle#.

Pulling set new NDC marks in the One Meter (174.22 points) and Three Meter (168.67) Dives.  Obolonskyy and Tuttle each posted personal season bests in the 100 Fly.

Women's Competition
In scoring the quad, Notre Dame lost to CSU, 177-51, to Gannon, 165-63, and to JCU, 122-96.

Rieger's bronze-medal performance in the 400 IM came in a national qualifying time (4:55.19).  #Shannan Fitzgerald# also posted a national qualifying time in the 400 IM.  Rieger doubled up on qualifying times - she posted a qualifying time in the 100 Fly.

Other noteworthy performances on the women's side included a personal best time for #Emily Perkins# in the 200 Free and a season best for Kelly O'Connor in the 100 Breast.
